I’m… so close to giving up on humanity.
Like, I’m the kind of person who loves wordplay and references and intellectualism….
I’ve never seen it as snobby. I see it as nerdy.
But I’m watching more and more people embrace ignorance as a point of pride. And that makes me sad.
Like, in commenting on a kid’s TV show – one that has wordplay and historical references and social commentary and just… rich cultural roots (so far removed from the “box opening” toy review videos currently hot on YouTube), and I legit know an individual who dismissed the entire show as “partisan indoctrination.”
…
“Partisan,” to reference history. “Partisan” to acknowledge and nod and be meta. “Partisan” to be smart and inclusive and witty and… let’s just face it… express opinions different from his own.
I’m just… reaching a point of… not wanting to interact or engage. At all.
Like, dude. You’re not worth my time. Or anyone’s, for that matter.
You live in Atlanta. The voter suppression is literally happening ALL AROUND YOU. AS WE SPEAK. But you think it’s “partisan” to comment on women’s and POC’s rights to vote.
Go. Eff. Yourself.
You small, hateful human being.
Keep barking out cereal names as other small, hateful human beings beat the living crap out of you. Literally, no one cares.
(Here’s hoping tomorrow brings a slightly more encouraging outlook. Because we need it. I need it.).
