HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
First of all, I can’t sing the praises of our turkey roaster nearly enough! I believe it’s a stoneware and it seems overly huge every other day of the year, but every Thanksgiving it roasts a perfectly browned-but-moist turkey with such ridiculously little effort. All you have to do is find the “proper positioning,” add oil, salt and paprika and the turkey seems to cook itself.
When you have a turkey cooks itself to moist perfection, you suddenly have more time to attempt desserts that have been *cough* Pinterest-inspired!
Actually, that brownie turkey was very much Publix-inspired and, as much as I and everyone else claimed to love it, I can see where it might look like a Pinterest Fail. (Sorry, little guy!) We simply made a batch of brownies, arranged it into a “turkey shape” (a semi-circle with feet) and then added a face and feathers. Not rocket science, but I do need to perfect my buttercream icing recipe a little bit before opening up a cake shop.
The cookie pizza was just that: we spread cookie dough out on a pizza round, cooked it and then decorated it with icing. My gooey icing (we’ve moved away from the preservative-laden store brands) seemed to hold up better with a smaller decorating tip.
Our orange-apple-cranberry-rosemary sangria was definitely NOT a fail though. Simple enough, those ingredients were added to a punch bowl of white sangria. INSTANT THANKSGIVING! Just don’t be a hero and try to eat one of those cranberries. I can guarantee it won’t end happily for you.
Anyway, have a happy holiday!!!
