Sugar Plum Fairy

Despite a prolonged hiatus from ballet (modern contemporary and circus don’t count), Erika has returned to her roots in recent years and has appeared as a guest artist in various dance school productions of The Nutcracker.

While co-founding and helping build Florida Artistic Ballet into a company, she played everything from Arabian (Chocolate) to Mirleton (Marzipan) to a grown-up version of Clara that danced alongside the company’s young apprentices, students of Florida Artistic Ballet Academy (created by Florida Artistic Ballet co-founder Melissa Rogers). She also designed costumes (including her Clara dress and Sugar Plum tutu) and fabricated the enlarged Nutcracker head you see below (out of a bucket!).

When Erika realized how difficult and time consuming running a company can be (even with a wonderful partner taking on most of the work), she went back to performing for other companies and most recently performed the Sugar Plum Fairy at Nova University in Davie, FL.
